Christmas and New Year 2012-2013

JESUS --  THE HEART OF OUR YEAR, 2012
Hello from Wisconsin
2012 has been another year of “God Opportunities”, those experiences that stretch us as we pass through them. We’ve often told our prison family,“Remember that your Heavenly Father is always with you. He loves you and cares about the details of your life.” This year we relearned the reality of this truth in a very personal way.

When Kathy’s parents suffered strokes—Mom in April and Dad in July—we were faced with unexpected changes. Living daily on “high alert”, it seemed like the challenges could overwhelm us, but God gave us courage, sustained us and gave the wisdom we needed. Our kids, extended family, and some of you reached out to us with comfort and insight. Through it all, God has been our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)
Our hearts are thankful.

Mom and Dad went from hospital to rehab, to hospital again (and again), and now are happy to be together in an assisted living facility. Dad is on oxygen 24/7 now, and both must be careful not to fall, as they are on blood thinner. They appointed Kathy the responsibility of being Power of Attorney for both of their health care and financial decisions. We appreciate your continued prayers for God’s will for them; also us, as we prepare their home for sale in the spring.

Behind Bars
In addition to our weekly Spanish Bible studies in Columbia, Dodge and Taycheedah Correctional Institutions, we’ve been privileged to do Spanish and bilingual worship services in New Lisbon and Stanley quarterly, plus pastoral visits there and at Waupun, Racine, and Fox Lake. Our hearts are enriched as we offer God’s love and hope. In spite of Christmas being hard for them, we know God has not forgotten the incarcerated. Keep praying!

For only the second time in our eight years of prison ministry, I accepted an invitation to lead English worship services and Bible studies at Oregon Correctional, a men’s minimum facility. As they approach release, staying close to the Lord is their goal and they need prayer to develop a support net outside-- a home church and mentors.

2013 Beckons Us
As we reflect on the lessons of 2012, we’ve realized that our hearts are at peace, even in the midst of trials.
God has given us precious times with our family that we otherwise might never have had. We also value your trust in us, as we represent the LORD and YOU. Your investment in praying and giving has made a real difference.

JESUS is the heart of our lives!  In 2013, may your heart receive the joy found only in walking with Him.
Thanks to those who sent us Christmas greetings! We enjoy hearing from all of you! Prospero Año Nuevo!
