Olson's Opportunities

Oh come let us ADORE Him, Christ the Lord!
Venid y ADOREMOS a Cristo Jesús!

Hello to all our family, friends and ministry partners,
As we draw near to Christmas 2015, we realize that there is SO much to love about the Lord! He is our Savior! Jesus came to earth to save us because we can't save ourselves from sin and its consequences. He is also our Redeemer, God in the flesh, our "Immanuel, God with us". He is all of this and MUCH MORE!

So as we sung the words above to “Oh Come All Ye Faithful” at our Spanish Bible study today, I asked myself, do I ADORE Him? I checked the meaning of ADORE:
Love and respect deeply, cherish, treasure, worship, glorify, praise, revere, reverence, exalt, extol, magnify...

According to Matthew 2:2, the Magi of the Bible sought the newborn King of the Jews. Today are we searching for the King? They made it their priority to seek Him and to find Him, that they might worship and ADORE Him!
Let US be modern-day Wise Men, stilling and bowing our hearts before Him, too. He is worthy of our worship.
Praises:
~We are learning to see His blessings and to be more thankful. We were especially excited to be together with all four of our children, Kathy’s Mom and brother Steve at Thanksgiving!

christmas 2015 (3).jpg~We are learning to use God's power to patiently persevere under pressure, aware of His Presence with us, guiding us
and giving peace.

~We are learning to regularly take time away as a couple, to keep building our relationship and reflect on goals.

Christmas is a difficult time for the incarcerated and those dealing with loss. Ask God to comfort them.
We ask your prayer covering for an English service Dec 6, a bilingual service Dec 12, a Spanish service Dec 13, and
a dozen individual pastoral visits Dec 14, in addition to our normal December Monday and Thursday Spanish studies. Josh is also moving before Dec 18th and we would like to help him.

2016 PRAYER POINTs
  • We are hoping to make a trip to Tecate this year and are asking God for His timing and provision.
  • We need His continual wisdom in our ministry schedule, Bible teaching topics, and counseling.
  • Safety as we drive over the many miles to and from the prisons. We appreciate our dependable vehicle.
  • Please pray for more prisoners to seek and find new life in Jesus Christ.

Gracias!
It means so much to know that you are praying for us. Your partnership with us in His work counts for eternity by helping us reach prisoners with the Good News of Jesus and His love. God uses you--your prayers, gifts, calls, texts, emails and visits to encourage. Each of you is special to us. We look forward to hearing from YOU!

May the new year bring you many blessings!
Trusting in Jesus,
Carl and Kathy Olson, Tecate Mission, Intl. ~ NOTE NEW EMAIL:carlkathy@icloud.com,

It's Wednesday...so...here comes our Bible discussion on the birth of Jesus according to Luke 2.1-20.

Luke 2 - The Birth of Jesus

Let’s read verses 1-20.

What details can we observe about Jesus’ birth from this portion of the Bible?

God used Caesar Augustus, God used Joseph & Mary, God used shepherds, God used angels: What can we discover about God from this?

What can we discover about how God uses people? And you!

Last week we talked about dreams, this week, please give your opinion about angels. What do we learn about dreams & angels from the birth of Jesus?

Verse 12 says, ‘this will be a sign to you’. What do you think about signs from God?

Let’s compare Luke 1.26-38 with this scripture.

Do you recall other appearances by angels in the Bible?  Acts 12:7

We have talked about people, dreams & angels; How can we apply these lessons to our daily living?

Wednesday, December 02, 2015

After a two week break for Thanksgiving, we are returning to our Wednesday night Bible discussion. We will discuss the birth of Jesus, our Savior!

Notes for: The birth of Jesus according to Matthew 1.18-25
Let’s read how Matthew presents the birth of Christ.
Who are the people in this portion of the Bible?

In the Jewish culture, what does the phrase ‘Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph’ mean? (Jewish marriage customs & our customs)

What do we discover about Joseph’s character by his actions?

What could have been going through Joseph’s mind when the angel said that your son, ‘will save his people from their sins’?

What value do you think dreams have?

Jesus is the Greek form of Joshua, which means the Lord saves.

Let’s compare Isaiah 7:14 & Isaiah 9:6.
Let’s compare Joseph’s actions to Boaz’s actions in the book of Ruth.

How can I apply this portion of the Bible to my daily life?
Is the application of this a little old guy with a white beard and a red suit?

Please apply any personal insights to your life this week.
