Wednesday night is coming ... so here are the Bible discussion study notes!

Bible Discussion on the Book of Ruth, chapter 2

To better observe what is in this chapter, let’s put it in our own words.

What do we continue to discover about Naomi’s and Ruth’s commitment to each other?

Looking at his actions & words, what do we discover about Boaz’s character?

Understanding the Old testament law for gleaning. Leviticus 23.22

What does guardian-redeemer mean? (kinsman-redeemer)
(The kinsman-redeemer is a male relative who, according to various laws of the O. T., had the privilege or responsibility to act on behalf of a relative who was in trouble, danger, or need. The Hebrew term for kinsman-redeemer designates one who delivers or rescues (Genesis 48:16; Exodus 6:6) or redeems property or person (Leviticus 27:9–25, 25:47–55). The kinsman who redeems or vindicates a relative is illustrated most clearly in the book of Ruth, where the kinsman-redeemer is Boaz.)

With Boaz being Ruth’s guardian-redeemer in mind, let’s compare; Romans 3:23-24, Galatians 3.13, Colossians 1.14, & 1 Peter 1.18-19.
Any thoughts? What has Jesus redeemed us from?

Although we have Jesus as our Redeemer, do you ever feel like you need to be ‘redeemed’ from a certain situation at times?

What action steps do you need to take to apply tonight’s teaching to your life?

How can you include Boaz’s character traits in your life?

We've been doing a Bible discussion study on Wednesday nights. So I thought I'd put my notes here on our blog. Let me know what you think.

Bible Discussion on the Book of Ruth, chapter 1

After reading the chapter, let’s review the people & connect the dots in this chapter.

What do we discover about Naomi’s character by her actions & words?

What do we discover about Ruth’s character by her actions & words?

Can we discover anything about God according to this chapter?

What does it mean when Ruth says in verse 16, “ . . . Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God?”

Have you ever felt like Naomi when she said, “the Almighty has made my life very bitter?

Can we find a relationship between Ruth’s desire for God & Lydia’s commitment to the Lord in Acts 16:11-15; & 40? Explain

Do you know of other women in the bible who have the same commitment to the Lord?

What nuggets from this chapter can you apply to your life tonight?

How can you apply the phrase, “your God (will be) my God”,  to your life?”
